The 3rd Hastings, who normally meet at Silverdale have not let COVID stop them getting back to face-to-face scouting as soon at the scout association allowed. After a successful lock down where scouting took place via zoom with escape rooms, scavenger hunts, car treasure hunts, come dine with me and many other fun activities to keep them entertained and look after their mental health, our beavers, Cubs and Scouts and their families were so pleased to be able to return to face to face scouting.

All sections were divided into bubbles of 12 with most units having at least 3 bubbles. This meant that each week a different bubble got to join in with a scouting activity. All sections have enjoyed looking after the environment by taking part in a Hastings Beach clean (gloves a grabbers compulsory) along with some fun socially distanced beach games all wrapped up warm. We have all been on hikes, taking in the beautiful countryside. Even more fun at night with a torch! We have enjoyed time together around campfires with the compulsory smores and hot chocolate. A great opportunity for our young people to talk and reflect and most importantly laugh. We tasked our bubbles to have “wheely good fun” along the seafront in any form of wheel transport they had.

As a group we felt it important to make sure our Beavers cubs and Scouts were still reflective in remembering those fallen and so invited many of or young people onto their doorsteps in uniform on remembrance Sunday to observe a 2 minute silence and remember those who gave their lives for ours #lestweforget.

Our dedicated team of leaders have truly pulled together to create fantastic face to face opportunities for all beavers, Cubs and Scouts and it has all been worthwhile to see their smiling faces, enjoyment and enthusiasm for scouting and friendships.

I’d personally like to take this opportunity to thank each and every leader and helper in the 3rd Hastings, whom together have continued scouting throughout the lockdown and face to face when permitted, following all social distancing guidelines. Its been an incredible achievement and so worthwhile for everyone’s wellbeing during these unpresented times. Well done team!

Let’s see what this term brings. #boom #3rdhastingsscouting.
